Railway authorities have assured that the ongoing railway construction work from Jiribam to Tupul would be completed by 2015, and Tupul-Imphal rail-way line within the next four years.With Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair, a review meeting on the ongoing railway work was held today together with State Government officials, officials of Railway Ministry as well as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) .Of the railway project's estimated cost of Rs 3250 crores, Rs 328 crores has been utilised so far, the Railway officials said at the meeting.Out of 34 tunnels which the railway line would pass through, construction of four tunnels has been completed.For the Tupul-Imphal railway line, a Detailed Project Report of Rs 1700 crores has been sent to the Government of India.The amount would be released and expected anytime soon.Counting from the time, the amount is sanctioned, the Tupul-Imphal section of the railway project would be completed within four years, assured the Railway officials.The Tupul-Imphal railway line would pass through a 141 metres high railway bridge which is the highest in the world and also a 8.9 Kms long tunnel which would be second longest in India.The BRO officials too assured that 151 Kms of NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway) would be completed by March this year while the remaining portion would be finished up to the stage of WBM. | ||
