Jammu: As the cold wave grips north India, the dense fog here has disrupted the rail traffic leading to several trains getting delayed for hours everyday.As the long-route trains are running late by 8-10 hours, the trains bound for short distances are also running late by 2-3 hours leading to great inconvenience for the passengers. Pooja Express arrived late by more than 10 hours and its scheduled departure got delayed by more than seven hours.The train has been running late by 8-10 hours for the past three days.The Jammu-Howrah Himgiri Express is running late by 12 hours whereas Jehlum Express is running late by one hour from its scheduled time. The departure of the Sampark Kranti got delayed by one hour while the Jammu Rajdhani is also running late by an hour.A passenger Pawan Sharma said, "I checked the status of the train today and got to know that the train was running late by 7-8 hours. I may take the bus now but these days bus fare has also increased and I have already booked the tickets. Traveling has become difficult due to the fog." Jammu railway station has a footfall of 50,000 passengers everyday with 25-30 trains being run from the station.With most passengers going to Vaishno Devi shrine staying here because of the train delay becomes very difficult.Prashant Dubey from New Delhi said, "Delay in trains has disturbed everything. We had planned a two-day trip for Mata Vaisho Devi but because of the delay in trains our trip got extended and the problem is not only with us, thousands are suffering like us. We don't have any other option but just to wait and watch." | ||
