JAIPUR: Temperatures continue to plummet across Rajasthan and on Sunday two places recorded a minimum temperature of below 0 degree Celsius, while at least six places in the state recorded below 1 degree Celsius even as two people died in Bundi due to the severe cold.Churu in the plains and Mount Abu in the hills remained the coldest areas in the state, recording a minimum temperature of -2.2 and 0 degrees Celsius respectively, the Met said on Sunday. In Churu, where the minimum temperature was 2.2 degrees below freezing point, normal life was badly affected.Meanwhile Jaipurites woke up to the coldest morning of the season so far as the city experienced a minimum of 3.2 degrees Celsius, almost 4 degrees below normal.Met office said that at some isolated places around Jaipur the mercury was below normal even during day time. A bright sunny day however helped the city experience a maximum temperature of 21.2 degrees Celsius, which was still almost 3 degrees below normal.According to the Jaipur met office the temperatures fell drastically in the first week of January. The dipping temperatures continued to play spoilsport with air, road and rail traffic to and from Jaipur and other parts of the state.At least three early morning Jaipur-bound flights coming from New Delhi landed late at the Jaipur airport. Likewise important trains like Puja express remained cancelled due to excessive fog in Punjab and Delhi while more than 24 trains were running late upto 12 hours. | ||
