During last seven days in Kerala Southern Railways registered as much as 702 cases if not less. Out of these 631 cases were of ticketless travel, 38 cases were of unbooked luggage and 33 were of irregular travel. Railway collected a total amount of Rs. 2.50lakh by penalising all of them. An interesting fact came out while conducting this drive that ticketless travel is done by mostly students. Apart from this many passengers were travelling in sleeper class coach on second class ticket. Routine offenders will be prosecuted by railway, a release said. An anti-fraud squad has been constituted to intensify checks and to check anti – tout activities. Since TTEs do not hold the birth allotment authority anymore, the anti-fraud squad is also examining of any such case. On November 21 the squad found a 14 year old boy who ran away from his home. He was later handed over to Childline to find his parents and hand him to his parents back again. |
