Although working efficiency of railways has fallen to a five year low but that is not stopping them to introduce an all-time high number of special trains to meet with festive season rush. A total of 2900 special trains were introduced by railways to mobilize crowds this festive season. Such high number of trains were introduced because as much as 10 lakh passengers were not able to secure a confirm birth every day. Anand vihar terminal of New Delhi is facing the maximum capacity constraint with 43% of passengers are unable to get a confirm birth. Apart from Anand Vihar, Jammu Tawi, Lokmanya Tilak Terminal, Bangalore City JJunction, Pune and Howrah are other major stations where passengers are stuck. Although most routes are already facing over capacity problem, therefore introducing such high number of trains is not easy for railways. No doubt that trains punctuality has taken a major hit due to high traffic on railway tracks. From October first week to November first week, passenger travel time is considered as peak time. Besides adding special trains railway has also decided to add 800 coaches permanently to various trains out of which 330 coaches has already been added. | ||
