A 24-year-old man posing as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) was arrested on Thursday by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The RPF got a tip-off about a possible fake TTE on board the Nagpur-bound Nandigram Express that had left CST at 4.35 pm on Wednesday.A senior RPF official told Mumbai Mirror that the Dadar RPF had received the tip-off and Sub-Inspector H S Yadav, along with other officers, boarded the B1 coach from platform number four at Dadar central station.“Harish Kamble, a resident of Kalyan, was confidently flashing his fake TTE badge and Identity Card and asking passengers to show him tickets. When we asked him questions he confessed that he was not a ticket checker,” an RPF officer said.During interrogation Kamble is said to have told the police that he had studied till Std X and his father worked as a box boy (a person who carries the box meant for guards of long distance trains) at Igatpuri Station.“He also said that he had been doing this for 10 days at local trains between Byculla and Sandhurst Road. However, he said, he had not been able to fine anyone,” said another RPF officer, adding that the after his statement was recorded and videographed, Kamble was handed over to the Dadar GRP.A case for forgery and impersonation has been registered against him under the Indian Police Act. |
