A non-stop daily Duronto train between Ernakulam and Bangalore, an intercity train from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram at night, more train services to Mumbai and Delhi, and setting up of a nodal office to evaluate the progress of projects and construction work figure on the ‘essential needs’ list submitted by the State for consideration in the Railway Budget being presented on Tuesday.Survey of the Erumeli-Cheriyanad stretch for a third line from Angamaly to Mavelikara, completion of phase II of the Kochuveli railway station, shifting of the existing goods shed/yard at Kottayam either to Ettumanur or Chingavanam, and new crossing stations at Kulukkallur and Melattur in the Shoranur-Nilambur section figure on the list, prepared in consultation with MPs and submitted to Union Minister for Railways.
