nikhilndls | MP seeks more facilities at Adilabad station on 05 March, 2013 - 03:00 AM
Adilabad Member of Parliament Ramesh Rathod on Monday demanded better maintenance facilities, including a pit line, at Adilabad railway station.Mr. Rathod, who met Minister of State for Railways recently, told the minister that the development of the station, including introduction of some new trains, was being held up due to lack of maintenance facilities there. He made a forceful plea to the minister to sanction new trains and other facilities on Nanded-Adilabad-Nagpur line for the upliftment of this backward area.Among the demands that the MP has made and expects to be fulfilled in the Railway Budget is extension of two passenger trains. Extension was demanded for Nanded-Daund-Nanded passenger up to Adilabad for the benefit of devotees of Shirdi Saibaba and the Adilabad-Parli-Adilabad passenger up to Pandharpur for the sake of devotees of Vithoba.Mr. Rathod urged the Minister to extend the Hyderabad-Bellampally special train up to Sirpur (T) which is only 56 km away. Sirpur lies on Adilabad district’s border with Maharashtra and such extension will be of great help to the business community. The MP hoped the Railway Budget will contain sanction for a computerised railway reservation counter at the tribal centre of Utnoor. He said Utnoor lies between Adilabad and Mancherial and will be convenient for people in the agency villages.
