Jaipur: Asian Development Bank (ADB) has given a principal approval to loan Rs969 crore to support Metro underground line, Chandpol-Badi Chaupar. The decision was taken in a higher-level meeting attended by Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) officials and the department of economics. “The bank has been agreed to finance the loan of Rs969 crore after accepting the request from JMRC. Now, the approval will go through several stages and we are expecting to get loan by August or September,” informed a JMRC officer. Meanwhile, the corporation’s CMD NC Goel presented a detailed presentation of the project to the ADB officials on Thursday. Many issues like land acquisition and rehabilitation of affected residents on Mansarovar-Chandpol stretch were informed to the bank officials. The sources added that bank officials were happy with the progress of the project so far and that they had given consent to finance the underground line. Notably, the state government had announced the underground line recently and had desired to organise a stone-laying ceremony this coming July. With this proposal the project cost has, however, crossed Rs3,000 crore and a loan of Rs969 crore was demanded from ADB. The JMRC had decided to take up the project at its own level and DMRC was appointed for the consultancy. | ||
