The work for construction of the rail under bridge near Mauli Jagran started on Friday. The road has been closed for traffic for nine months. Once the construction is completed, it will provide another route for commuters to reach Panchkula. The road on the stretch had been widened several months back. However with the construction of RUB not having been undertaken, it was not feasible to use the stretch.While the construction has been undertaken by the Railways, the cost has been shared with the UT Administration. The proposal had been in the pipeline for several years, but was hitting one road block after the other. Recently after all clearances were received, the tenders were floated and work has been started.The commuters to and from Panchkula do not have many options where routes are concerned. While Chandigarh is connected to Mohali through several roads, there are not many to Panchkula. This leads to traffic congestion on the road from Madhya Marg towards the Housing Board lightpoint especially during morning and evening hours.
