The Central executive committee of All India Railway Engineers’ Federation (AIREF) has decided to launch agitation from next month.At its 6th all India general council held at Bilashpur on Saturday and Sunday, engineers expressed dissatisfaction over alleged apathetic approach of the Railway Ministry to address their cause. The graduate engineers, recruited directly, are given less salary when compared to less qualified staff such as nurses, accountants, and teachers in railways, said AIREF leaders.“It has been unanimously decided to launch agitation against the ‘wrong policies’ of the Railways through post card campaign from January 6 from Sabarmati Ashram near Ahemadabad and later there would be a mass dharna on February 13 at all divisional headquarters of the Indian Railways,” said Bobin Mohanty, general secretary, East Coast Railway Engineers’ Association, here on Monday.At the general council meeting, Sudhamaya Bajapayi, president, and B.P. Dash, member of ECoREA, were unanimously elected working president and national chief auditor of AIREF respectively.
