The Kerala High Court on Friday refused to interfere in a petition filed by Kerala State Planning Board research officer MR Jayageetha seeking to quash the prosecution proceedings initiated by Special Judicial Magistrate (Railways), Kollam, against her for alleged ticket-less travel.Justice S S Satheesachandran passed the order while considering a petition filed by Jayageetha challenging the order of the Magistrate Court which had issued summons to her. Jayageetha was allegedly harassed by train ticket examiners on February 17 during a journey from her work place to home. The ticket examiners had asked her to get off the train though she possessed first class superfast season ticket. They showered abuses on Jayageetha and her husband who was waiting to receive her at the Kollam railway station, the petition pointed out.The Railways contended that a passenger possessing first class season ticket is not entitled to travel in reserved compartments. But the petitioner had boarded the first class coach of Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Superfast Express, Railways said. | ||
