As part of the efforts to increase security, the Integrated Security System will become operational soon in nine more stations in Southern Railway, the zonal General Manager, Rakesh Misra, said on Saturday.Speaking after unfurling the national flag on the 64{+t}{+h}Republic Day, he said the system comprising CCTV, access control, personal baggage scanning, bomb detection and disposal equipment and under vehicle scanner had already been inaugurated at Chennai Central, Egmore, Basin Bridge, Madurai and Kozhikode. In all, 14 stations had been identified for providing the enhanced security system at a cost of about Rs.40 crore.Mr.Misra said electrification of Dindigul-Madurai-Virudhunagar, Nagercoil-Tirunelveli and Villupuram-Vellore sections was in an advanced stage of completion. It is expected to be commissioned during this year.The General Manager inspected a guard of honour by the Railway Protection Force.The Acting Chief Justice Elipe Dharma Rao hoisted the national flag at the Madras High Court.At the ONGC office, Executive Director-Basin Manager, Cauvery, B.S.Josyulu, unfurled the tricolour. He said out of the 12 exploratory wells drilled by the company in Cauvery Basin, seven have yielded hydrocarbons.Speaking after hoisting the national flag, the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited Managing Director, A.S.Basu, said the company is planning to set up a Rs.3100 crore Resid Upgradation project at Manali. . | ||
