A Hubli-Bijapur special passenger train was launched on Thursday.Office-bearers and members of the Karnataka Rajya Railway Abhivruddhi Horata Samiti performed a ‘kshirabhisheka’ on the train at the Gadag station. Nisar Ahmed Kaji, district president of the samiti, general secretary Basavanneyya Hiremath, and Fakkireshwara Swami of the Soratur Hiremath were present.According to a press release, the services of the special train would continue till June 30, 2013. The train will depart from Hubli daily at 6.25 a.m. and reach Bijapur station at 1 p.m. the same day.It will have halts at Sisvinahalli, Annigeri, Hulkoti, Gadag, Hombal, Belganur, Mallapur, Hole Alur, Lakmapur, Badami, Guledagudda Road, Bagalkot, Mugalolli, Jalram Kunte, Alamatti, Wandal, Basavanabagewadi Road, Mulwad, and Ibrahimpur. In the return direction, it will depart from Bijapur station at 1.30 p.m. and arrive at Hubli station at 8.20 p.m. the same day.
