The 16th district-level literary meet organised here by the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat concluded with an appeal to the government to accelerate the process of framing rules related to providing reservation in employment and education to people of the Hyderabad Karnataka region, following the grant of special status.In a resolution adopted to this effect, the State government has been urged to initiate steps to ensure that all the benefits of special status are passed on to the people of the region.In another resolution, the government has been urged to carve out three more taluks in the district: Kottur, Kurgodu and Kampli.The Railway Ministry has been asked to complete work on the Kottur-Harihar rail line, which has been languishing for nearly 18 years, at the earliest, and start passenger train services.Sirigeri Yerriswamy, president of the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, read out the resolutions and they were approved unanimously. | ||
