AJMER: The Brahma temple along with the newly constructed railway station will be under the scanner of security agencies during the upcoming international cattle fair at Pushkar. In its broad arrangements, the district police has prepared taken up strict security measures and priority is being given to the 'chabad' of the Israeli community centre. The central bus stand which was near the chabad has been shifted towards the mela ground and a proposal for deputing armed forces during the fair has been sent to the authorities concerned."The Brahma temple will remain in a five-fold security set-up in which the inner security will remain in the hands of the Central agencies," an official said. He said the armed forces will be deputed at the temple and the outer two circles will be protected by the state police. This year, the security plan incorporated the new railway station as the rail link to Pushkar, which started last year, is a likely target criminals. "We are planning to keep a strict vigil on the railway station during the fair. The newly constructed bus stand has also been shifted to the outer security circle and we have surveyed that place," said Ramdev Singh, additional superintendent of police (rural).Sources said every route to Pushkar from November 16 will be checked strictly and no vehicle will be allowed to enter the main town area. Parking for the vehicles is arranged near the mela ground. "Chabad's security is a great concern for officials as the Central agencies have asked the local administration to provide fool-proof measures in this place," an official said.Various intelligence agencies have already set up their camps in Pushkar to check any irregularity or suspicious activities. "This has been made routine after it was revealed that terror-mastermind David Headley had stayed in Pushkar and had a map of the area," a source said. The intelligence department is keeping a close watch on foreign tourists who have come this month. | ||
