Bangaloreans can get a glimpse of the works of one of the country’s foremost poets, Rabindranath Tagore, at the Bangalore Cantonment railway station as the ‘Sanskriti Express’ is in town till Wednesday.Tagore who was a poet, playwright, artist and philosopher was chosen to be the theme of this train during the tenure of Mamata Bannerjee as the Railway Minister.‘Sanskriti Express’, a mobile train which commenced its journey in 2010, is on its second journey across the country and set out from Shantiniketan on August 7 this year.The train with five compartments was manufactured by Indian Railways as a tribute to Tagore on the occasion of his 152nd Birth Anniversary. These coaches are specially named and contain pictures and other memorabilia from the poet’s life.The train arrived in Bangalore on December 2 and will leave for Hubli next on December 6 after which it will proceed to Maharashtra, according to officials from South Western Railway. | ||
