New Delhi: Intense fog conditions continue to affect flights and trains movements in Delhi and Northern India for second consecutive day, here on Sunday.Due to intense fog enveloping Delhi, 35 in-bound flights were delayed and 15 were cancelled and an international flight was diverted to Jaipur. Meanwhile, number of trains were running late for several hours due to intense fog affecting northern India.According to weather department, there will be no respite in fog conditions in coming days. Meanwhile, elaborate arrangements are made to ensure comfort to the stranded passengers.Due to dense fog, runway visibility started to deteriorate from last night and general visibility was reduced to less than 100 metres which led to early morning flights. General visibility on main runway 28/11 was near to zero and runway visibility was 75 metres.The schedule of over 50 domestic and international flights has been disrupted. Runway visibility dropped to zero at third runaway during night affecting its flight traffic.At one time the runway visibility dropped to zero at one end of the third runway. The operations at the third runway remained suspended for major part of the morning due to poor visibility, an airport official said.According to MeT department, CAT-III B fog (when runway visibility coming below 50 metres) will continue to hover around till Christmas. On Sunday also over 100 flights were badly affected due to dense fog.Meanwhile, entire northern India remained covered in thick fog. The places like Agra, in UP, Gwalior and Satna in MP, Patiala in Punjab and Churu in Rajasthan are covered in fog. General visibility in these areas was less than 50 meters.According to official sources, over 100 flights were affected yesterday due to winter's first dense fog.Delhi operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has taken all measures to ensure to ensure smooth airline traffic. The measures include Air Traffic Control (ATC) scheduling slots for flights departures in advance which is based on met forecasts helping them to planning their boarding the flights operations as per the slot.DIAL and airline have made arrangements for food and drinks for stranded passengers. | ||
