If you happen to visit Chandigarh’s railway station, try noticing the facilities available to you. To your utter surprise you might just not find even a water cooler! Lack of basic facilities has left many commuters in complete disarray. Various govts over the time have claimed to transform the Chandigarh railway station, but their tall promises are going nowhere. There were claims to equip the railway station with all world class facilities yet most of the basic facilities are not available here..The waiting area for passengers is cluttered, with furniture placed haphazardly in the room. What’s more, it looks overcrowded if more than a dozen persons occupy it…The daily commuters are facing the brunt, they have to stand in long queues to buy their tickets everyday.. Getting inside the station for the disabled persons is relatively easy as there are ramps at the entrance…The passengers blamed the railway officials for not getting the CCTV cameras repaired at the station premises…With temperatures souring, the station has just one water cooler which is insufficient… The commuters blame the coach-display numbers hung at the train exit area on the platform are seldom working because of which they have to sometimes cross the railway lines, which is in no way safe…The commuters have lost every hope for the development of the stations infrastructure, they claim it has been four years, except few things nothing has undergone a change…
