HUBLI: Hubli-Dharwad region is emerging as small and medium industries hub with more than a lakh small and medium industries, said B P Shashidhar, president of Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (Kassia), Bangalore.He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Vender Development and Symposium which was organized as part of the Incomex-2013, mega industrial exhibition, in Hubli on Saturday.Incomex-2013 has been organized by the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and district administration in association with other organizations, at Hubli-Dharwad Multipurpose Exhibition Centre in the APMC yard.Shashidhar felt that small and medium industries in the region have developed a lot compared to the last few years in the region, and a lot of potential is seen. Entrepreneurs in the region are exporting goods to all over the country and even outside.Public sector unit (PSU) should look into this region and should tie up with local entrepreneurs to supply products. And PSU should purchase about 30 per cent goods from small and medium entrepreneurs, he added.Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Sirur, managing director, Miven Mayfran Conveyors Private Limited, said manufacturing sector in the north Karnataka region needs to improve, and that big manufactures are not getting adequate goods from the region. | ||
