A writ plea has been made in the Madras High Court to scrap the existing system of running sleeper coaches and to introduce chair-car bogies in the daytime Cholan Express running between Chennai and Trichy, on Monday.The first bench comprising Chief Justice M Y  Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam, before which the public interest writ petition from advocate and BJP National Council member K Rajenthren of Mayiladuthurai came up for hearing, admitted it and ordered notice to the Southern Railway, returnable in four weeks.In his petition, Rajenthren submitted that the Cholan Express between Egmore and Trichy starts at 9.15 am and arrives at Chennai Egmore at 5.45 pm. In the return direction, it leaves Egmore at 8.15 am  and reaches Trichy at 4.30 p m. Therefore, there was no need to run the sleeper coaches in the day express.
