Former Union Energy secretary EAS Sarma has urged union railway minister Suresh Prabhu to use advance technology so that enough safety measures can be taken. In a letter written by him specifically to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu he said – “For how long you wish to continue Indian Railways in such a condition. Comparing the frequency of accidents in your regime to earlier government will not take away the reality that Indian Railways is continuing in a sordid state. The problems cannot be resolved like this.” Sarma wrote a letter when Ajmer – Sealdah Express derailed near Kanpur yesterday leaving more than 40 passengers injured. He further said that – “there is something wrong with the safety systems and in the upcoming budget priority must be given to enhancement of safety techs. It is strange to see that currently the priority of Indian Railways is installation of WiFi’s and bullet train rather than safety of passenger.” |
