Title - ‘More express trains should halt at Chatrapur’

Members of Chatrapur Development Committee (CDC) held a demonstration in front of Chatrapur railway station demanding better amenities and stoppage of several express trains at Chatrapur station.It may be noted that Chatrapur is the district headquarters of Ganjam district. The agitation by the CDC had support of leaders of various political parties, organisations and citizens’ committee of Chatrapur. Two former MLAs of Chantrapur, N.Narayan Reddy and Ashok Choudhury, also participated in the agitation. President of the Chatrapur Bar Association Ram Chandra Behera chaired the public meeting held by the agitators near the railway station.

Rally

The agitators took out a rally in Chatrapur which started from the Thakurani temple at Chatrapur and moved around the town before reaching the railway station. The agitators held a demonstration in front of the railway station. They handed over a memorandum addressed to the General Manager of East Coast Railways to the station superintendent.

After that they held a public meeting at the spot to create public awareness regarding their demands.
