Malayalis in New Delhi can now look forward to a steady supply of vegetables and fruits produced in their home State.On Sunday, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Kodikkunnil Suresh is scheduled to flag off two mobile vending units at the Kerala House in New Delhi. Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor and State Minister for Agriculture K.P. Mohanan will be present.Named ‘Haritha Kalavara,’ the two vehicles will go around the city and stop at colonies and institutions with a sizeable number of Malayalis. The products to be sold through the vehicles will be sourced directly from farms in Kerala by the State Horticultural Products Development Corporation (Horticorp) and taken to Delhi by train under an agreement with Indian Railways.The package of products include banana, cassava, coconut, pineapple, jackfruit, breadfruit, spices, coconut oil, honey and value added products, a press note quoting Manoj Kurup, managing director, Horticorp said. |
