SURAT: Navsari Lok Sabha Youth Congress Committee on Monday submitted a memorandum to minister of state for railways Bharatsinh Solanki seeking CCTV camera network at Surat railway station.Congress has alleged that the passengers are not getting their train reservations for certain destinations like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Bihar, Lucknow, West Bengal etc. from reservation counters as agents, touts and reservation staff work hand-in-glove.Roshan Mishra, president of Navsari Lok Sabha Youth Congress Committee, said, "Passengers have to cough up Rs 10 extra on the tickets at the reservation counter. In most of the cases, passengers are not given the change money and when they complain, the staff at the ticketing counters ask them to carry change money with them""Only CCTV network inside and outside the ticketing and reservation counters will solve the problems faced by the passengers," said Mishra.Meanwhile, Surat railway stations officials said they welcome the proposal for installing CCTV cameras at the railway station. However, they denied the allegation that the railway staff worked hand-in-glove with touts and agents. |
