Western Railway has opened two out-to-out Foot Over Bridges at Charni Road and Andheri to facilitate commuters on its suburban section.Western Railway has opened an out-to-out new Foot Over Bridge near Charni Road station (North). This Foot Over Bridge has been constructed in lieu of old Foot Over Bridge which was old and beyond repair. This Foot Over Bridge will facilitate smooth & safe movement from east to west towards chowpatty. It is about 3 meter wide and about 29 meter in length.Another out-to-out Foot Over Bridge has been opened for public near Andheri Railway station between Andheri & Jogeshwari. It will also facilitate safe and smooth movement of public from east to west and vice versa. This bridge is 5 meter wide. Both the FOBs have been constructed above the railway track and without affecting the movement of trains. At Charni Road, old span was delaunched and the old structure was dismantled below staircase on east side with meticulous planning, thus not affecting the local services.Western Railway has added 19 Foot Over Bridges in last 5 years. At present, there are 92 Foot Over Bridges & 8 Subways on WR Suburban section. A massive increase in Foot Over Bridges on suburban section is planned. Work of construction of 19 new Foot Over Bridges is going on at Kandivali, Goregaon, Malad, Naigaon, Virar, Dadar, Jogeshwari etc. and 2 subways at Vasai Road and Naigaon stations. 9 more Foot Over Bridges are also proposed for Dadar, Borivali, Bhayander etc. This will facilitate smooth movement of commuters and also help in reducing trespassing on tracks. |
