Bathinda : In a significant step aimed at providing clean and hygienic environment to the rail passengers at the Bathinda station, the railway has started constructing another washable apron at the Asia's second biggest railway junction.The new washable apron would come up at the platform number 1 and this would be third one at the station. The other two aprons are at platform numbers 2 and 3.The work regarding construction of the apron began on May 8 and is likely to be over by June 15.In view of the construction work, berthing of as many as 19 trains has been shifted temporarily by the railways, said ATM Bathinda SP Singh Bhatia.Bhatia said passengers were requested to enquire about the status of the berthing of the trains instead of directly going to the platform. He, however, said the change in berthing of trains was likely to be valid only for the next 36 days, from May 8.Some important trains touching Bathinda like 14520 Kisan Express is departing from platform no 4 nowadays. Similarly, 11924 Janta Express is standing at platform number 3 instead of platform number 4, sources in the railways said.Bhatia said the construction of the washable apron is aimed at providing a neat and tidy environment to the passengers.The surface of the washable apron is made up of concrete that makes cleaning easy with the help of water hydrants. The railway also has a plan to construct washable apron at platform numbers 4, 5, 6 and 7 at Bathinda station. |
