AHMEDABAD: The western railway has registered 287 cases of tick-less traveling during the month of July. The railways has also recovered a fine of Rs 6.73 lakhs from such travelers.According to railway officials intensive checks against ticket less travel were conducted during June on the board of trains which resulted into detection of 287 cases of ticket less or irregular travel including unbooked luggage cases. According to officials the fine collected from such passengers was to the tune of Rs. 6.73 crore.This according to officials was 49.84 per cent more than the corresponding month of the 2011. Also during the month of July, 587 cases of transfer of reserved tickets were detected and an amount of Rs. 4.75 lakh was realized from such travelers.Officials said that during the same period, 175 checks were also con-ducted against touts and other Anti Social elements.Officials said that during the month of May also similar such drives were conducted and 1.68 cases of ticket less or irregular travel including unbooked luggage cases were detected. This resulting into a recovery of Rs 6.48 crore. During May also 1444 cases of illegal trans-fer of reserved tickets were detected and an amount of Rs.11.70 lakh was recovered from such passengers. |
