Title - WC Railways moots special menu for diabetes patients

The Western Central Railway (WCR) is contemplating to alter menu serving food to train passengers.

Fresh menu could include special diet for diabetes patients. Under the new catering policy, the Railway Board has authorized all the railway zones to prepare own

menus. Some special trains and selected stations would offer special meals to be prepared for Jain community passengers.

According to information, the WCR is planning to prepare a proposal to be sent to the Railway Board for approval.

A senior officer told DNA that as per the proposal total 97 food items would be made available to the passengers in different trains and platforms. The menu would include seven items which have been short listed taking into consideration health of sugar patients.

The items include corn flakes' milk, branded milk, green papaya curry, boiled vegetables, white egg omelet bread and sugar free sweets. Additionally, Jain community favourite items would also be included in the menu. The price range would also be affordable starting from `15 to 22. Besides, Railway is also planning to arrange several favourite items of the region in the menu.

These items include; daal-bati-churma, gatta vegetable and paneer makhani on affordable rates.
