Title - Vijaywada railway division earns Rs 423 cr in April-May

Vijayawada : South Central Railway's Vijayawada Division has earned Rs 423 crore revenue in April-May this year, as against Rs 339 crore in the corresponding period last year, officials said. In a press release, Divisional Manager Anurag has stated that goods earnings of the division posted a growth of 33 per cent over the previous year of the corresponding period. The Division earned Rs 318.18 crore in the current financial year as against Rs. 239.13 crore during first two months of 2011-12. The division transported 2.447 million tons of coal which registered an increase of 39.5% over previous year and coal, fertilisers, food-grain and cement are some of the important commodities, he said. It earned Rs 84.59 crore through passenger traffic in the two months, as against Rs 80.65 crore last year. The division earned Rs. 3.82 crore in April-May through ticket checking.
