With the second new broadgauge track having been laid between Vriddhachalam and Ulundurpet, as part of 270-km Villupuram-Dindigul doubling project, a light engine was operated on that stretch on Monday.The “engine rolling” was done from Ulundurpet station to Vriddhachalam, a 20-km stretch that has three major bridges, 27 minor bridges, and two stations en-route one of which is a block station. Top officials of the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Government of India enterprise which is executing the doubling project, inspected the stretch on a motor trolley accompanied by the divisional railway officials to test the continuity of the track, railway sources here said. .The Villupuram–Dindigul doubling project is being executed. The work is expected to be completed by December. |
