Title - Two trains held up after suicide bid

Two trains were held up after a person attempted to commit suicide on the railway track near the Kottayam Railway station on Wednesday.The incident occurred at Nagampadom around 9.30 am. A person, identified as Haridas of Erumeli, jumped on the path of a rail engine that was being taken to Ernakulam from the Kottayam railway station.As the engine was moving at a low speed, the loco pilot managed to stop it before hitting the person.However, the person refused to move away from the track despite repeated requests by the loco pilot and the passerby. Finally, the Railway Protection Force personnel forcibly removed him from the track.

Financial trouble

They said he took the extreme step because of financial difficulties.Two trains, Parasuram Express that had reached the Kottayam railway station and a passenger train from Ernakulam which was heading for Kottayam, were held up for nearly 15 minutes due to the incident.

The person was later handed over to his relatives after registering a case.
