Two important railway infrastructure projects are likely to be commissioned in the next few months in the city.While the warehouse at the Mysore New Goods Terminal is expected to be handed over to the Railway authorities for commissioning by June 15, civil works for the Multi-Functional Complex (MFC) at the city railway station have been completed. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anup Dayanand Sadhu told The Hindu that a review meeting on the progress of works on the warehouse was held here Monday.The Railways has leased out 20,000 sq metres of land for 30 years for the warehouse being constructed by the Central Warehousing Corporation. It is expected to help Railways provide logistic solutions to the business community, industrialists and other customers for ferrying goods. The memorandum of understanding for the project was signed in October 2009. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs.8 crore.Mr. Sadhu said a major portion of the work was over and the construction of merchants' room and labourers' room was in progress. Once commissioned, it would have a storage capacity of nearly 12,500 tonnes. Civil works for the MFC at the city railway station have been completed. The MFC was announced in the Railway Budget 2009-10. . |
