Mumbai -- Though no announcement was made, sources said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accepted chief minister Prithviraj Chavan's demand for funding for Metro's third corridor - an underground line running between Colaba, Bandra and Seepz - and Sewree-Nhava sea link. The Centre gives viability gap funding to make projects profitable for private developers who build them. "We are expecting inclusion of the two projects in the Centre's JNNRUM-2 soon," Chavan told HT. Under JNNRUM, the Centre gives funds to states to build urban infrastructure projects. The third metro line is likely to cost Rs. 19,000 crore. The sealink cost is expected to be Rs. 10,000 crore. The Centre is also planning to give Rs500 crore for construction of a cancer hospital in Mumbai. |
