Dhanbad's senior or disabled citizens who travel by train have reason to cheer ' the railway station on Wednesday received two new wheelchairs, bringing up the total number to five at present. Two members of Federation of Dhanbad Zilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry sponsored a wheelchair each, costing Rs 4,500, to the station. Federation president Rajiv Sharma gifted a wheelchair in his departed wife Mamta's name. Member Om Prakash Ritolia donated another in his late father Radha Krishan Ritolia's memory. The two gifts were handed over to divisional commercial manager S.K. Lal at a function held on station premises around 11.45am on Wednesday. Former BJP district president and Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee member Satyendra Kumar, federation general secretary and Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee member Rajesh Kumar Gupta, senior vice president Bunan Ram, vice president Deepak Kumar Dipu, zonal vice president Ashok Bhattacharya, secretary Lalan Mishra, train travellers' inspector Asif Wali and chief inspector of tickets (indoors) S.N. Ram were also present. "Wheelchairs will help disabled persons and patients who come to Dhanbad station to board trains to Vellore, Mumbai and Delhi for treatment," said Lal. The A-category station under Dhanbad division of East Central Railway can be called one of the most disabled friendly public places in Jharkhand. All seven platforms have ramps for wheelchairs. |
