KEONJHAR: The truck owners’ association of Keonjhar, Joda and Barbil has called for an indefinite rail roko from Monday demanding transportation of iron ore by trucks. It followed failure of talks between the district administration and the mine owners. Stopping the goods trains passing through Keonjhar on Monday morning, the agitators alleged that the decision to transport iron ore by train from the district has affected lakhs of people dependent directly or indirectly on the business. The protestors who had called for Keonjhar bandh on April 30 decided on a rail roko on May 2. Later they decided not to proceed with their decision following an assurance of a solution hammered out through talks between the district administration and the mine owners. The irked truck owners said that the talks failure had prompted them to go for an indefinite rail roko effective from Monday. |
