Title - Travel in 30 minutes between Lucknow and Kanpur soon

By 2020, travel time between Lucknow and Kanpur will be reduced to 30 minutes. This month construction over 121 kms stretch with heavier tracks is about to start. According to railways all constructional work will be completed by 2020. The main difference between current tracks and new tracks is that new tracks are 8 kgs heavier. Weight of normal rail track is about 52 kg per meter.

Six months ago, Northern Railway conducted a survey to increase speed of trains between Lucknow and Kanpur. At present, trains hardly achieve 50 to 70 kmph average speed. Railway wants to increase this speed by upto 90kmph.

At present, more than 80 trains run on this route daily. Increased speed will also allow railway to increase number of trains on this route.
