The Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram-Mumbai weekly train arrived at 1.30 p.m. for the first time at Coimbatore Railway Junction on Saturday after the Railways re-routed it through Coimbatore, following persistent demand from the Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore and the District Rail Users’ Consultative Committee.Introduced in 2005, the train was passing through Podanur for all these years. On Saturday, Commercial Inspector Ramanathan and committee member Jameel offered sweets to the driver, to mark the first halt at the Coimbatore junction.The train will arrive at Coimbatore from Mumbai every Saturday at 1.30 p.m., on way to Thiruvananthapuram. In the return direction, it will reach Coimbatore at 4.30 p.m. on Mondays. |
