Train services, which was completely suspended between Assam and the rest of the country for the last two days due to ongoing ethnic clash in lower Assam, affecting more than 30,000 passengers, resumed today. "Up train movement to Guwahati in the Alipurduar-Kokrajhar section has resumed since 2.45 pm today", Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) chief public relation officer S Hajong said in a statement here.The Samparkranti Express which was stranded at Alipuduar junction since yesterday, resumed its journey to Guwahati at 2.45 pm while the Rajdhani Express which was halted at New Coocbehar, left at 3.25 pm. The Secunderabad-Guwahati Express which was regulated at New Coochbehar has left at 3 pm, Avadh Assam Express which was in New Alipurduar started for Guwahati at 2.55 pm.The Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Express which was stranded at Hasimara has left at 2.45 pm, Gandhidham-Kamakhya Express stationed at Dhupguri at 2.50 pm, North East Express stationed at New Alipurduar started its journey at 3.30 pm while the Kanchanjangha Express which was stranded at New Alipurduar started at the same time.More than 30,000 passengers were stranded in all these stations for the past couple of days due to ongoing clash between minority immigrants and Bodo rivals in lower Assam after there was attack on various trains including the Rajdhani Express following which the NFR had cancelled running of all trains. |
