Title - Train hits platform during shunting from yard

Nagercoil: The last coach of Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram train climbed on the platform while being shunted from the yard to the railway station at Nagercoil.   

According to officials, the coach over-shot the terminus signal and climbed on to the platform damaging it to a length of 2.5 metre.   

Later the coach was delinked and the train was operated as per schedule at 6:45 pm.   

The shunting master, whose duty is to assist the driver while shuting, was absent leading to the accident, officials said.
