Two bogies of a track inspection train carrying an inspection team caught fire near Mandideep railway station. The fire was so severe that two bogies were completely gutted. Luckily no staff was injured in the incident. According to a report the railway inspection staff was traveling from Lucknow to Itarsi in the inspection train of Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO). Though the exact cause of fire was not clear immediately, according to a junior engineer Santosh Prajapati who was travlling in the bogey the accident was possibly caused by overheating of brake. The divisional railway manager West Central Railway, Bhopal Ghanshyam Singh reached the spot on getting the information. On getting the information of fire the fire tenders from Mandideep municipality and factories were pressed into service which doused the fire. The glass windows of the train were broken by public by throwing stones so that water could be sprayed inside the bogies to douse the fire. The fire tenders struggled for two hours to control the fire. |
