Title - Tiruchi campaign puts cleanliness on front seat

The pamphlets urged people to avoid littering food items on platforms, use toilets while the train is on the move, avoid smoking in trains and stations, avoid spitting etc. Travelling public have a key role to play in maintaining cleanliness of railway stations and running trains. To press upon this issue, the Tiruchi Railway Division launched a cleanliness awareness campaign at the Tiruchi Railway Junction here on Wednesday morning.Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager, who launched the campaign, led a team of top railway officials and distributed pamphlets to passengers travelling in Madurai – Chennai Vaigai Express seeking public cooperation for the upkeep of stations and compartments.

The pamphlets urged people to avoid littering food items on platforms, use toilets while the train is on the move, avoid smoking in trains and stations, avoid spitting, urinating at the railway station and platforms, use bathrooms and toilets keeping sanitation in mind.

The pamphlets also urged the people to use drinking water available at the stations economically .

S. A. Abdul Rahman, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, R.Soundararajan, Chief Medical Superintendent, N.Muthukumar, Station Manager, other senior officers, volunteers from St. John’s Ambulance Brigade and Health Department Staff participated in the campaign and distributed pamphlets.

Blood donation

The medical branch of the Tiruchi Railway Division also distributed pamphlets on the importance of blood donation and urging the people to donate blood whenever possible for saving the lives of innocent people.

The DRM also interacted with the commuters and listened to their grievances. Later Mrs. Manjula Rangarajan inspected facilities at the junction and also the development works in progress.
