Ticket-checking drive at Ernakulam Junction fetches Rs.1, 68,162 towards fare, penalty

Ticketless travel in the railway network of the State is on the increase if one goes by the penalty collected and cases registered during the ticket-checking drive carried out by the commercial wing of Railways.On Thursday, a mega ticket-checking drive at Ernakulam Junction fetched Rs.1, 68,162 towards fare and penalty.As many as 428 cases of ticketless/irregular travel were detected by the team led by Arun Thomas, Assistant Commercial Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, along with ticket-checking staff, Railway Protection Force, and Government Railway Police.Railways obtained Rs.1.41 lakh as fare and penalty during a drive at Thiruvananthapuram Central and Pettah railway stations on July 8. Special ticket-checking drive organised between Kayamkulam and Thiruvananthapuram Central on June 24 resulted in the detection of 265 cases for Rs.90,675.
