Title - Ticket Checking Earning increase by 19.58% for Central Railway

Intensive ticket checking drive against ticketless and irregular travellers by Central Railway has helped Railway to earn 19.58 % more this financial year. After monitoring revenue loss closely, senior officers at Central Railway decided to conduct intense ticket checking drive.


During the financial year 2017-18, a total of 31.45 lakh cases of ticketless / irregular travel and un-booked luggage were detected as against 26.88 lakh cases during last year 2016-17, thus registering an increase of 16.99% in number of cases. An amount of  Rs.153.82 crore was realized from them as fine against Rs. 128.63 crore during last year, thus registering an increase of 19.58% in earnings.

In the month of March 2018, a total of 199 cases of transfer of reserved journey tickets were detected and an amount of Rs.1.81 lakhs was realized from them as fine.
