South Western Railway ran three more special trains to Guwahati on Thursday evening to cater to the surging demand for tickets from home-bound northeast migrants. This was in addition to a regular train. A 19-coach special train left the City railway station at 8pm, while another 18-rake special train departed at 10pm. The third special train left at 1am Friday. The 23-bogie regular train started at 11.30pm. SWR issued 3,000 tickets to northeast destinations till 6pm. About 7,000 boarded the four trains from the city. Railway authorities said 20,000 people wanted to board the trains on Thursday night. TNN |
