Title - THREE NEW TRAINS FLAGGED OFF

Mysore, July 7- The South Western Railway has commenced three new train services from city.

Union Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa flagged off Mysore-Chamarajanagar Daily Passenger, Mysore-Sravanabelagola Daily Passenger and Mysore-Sainagar Shiradi Weekly Express at City Railway Station here this morning.

Addressing the gathering, Muniyappa said that the track-doubling work between Mysore and Bangalore would be completed in six months if the needed land at Mandya, Maddur and Srirangapatna were acquired. He added that the survey work to lay a track to Madikeri was going on in full swing.

Bullet train: The Minister said that the viability of running a bullet train between Mysore and Bangalore and further to Chennai was being checked and once okayed the train would provide the comfort of an aircraft, of course for a price.

Tipu's armoury: The proposal to shift Tipu's armoury near Srirangapatna has been cleared by the Archaeological Department to pave way for the doubling work of the track between Mysore and Bangalore, he added. District Minister S.A. Ramdas, MPs R. Dhruvanarayan and H. Vishwanath, Mayor M.C. Rajeshwari, SWR GM Ashok Kumar Mittal, DRM Vinod Kumar and others were present.
