The long-awaited doubling of the Guntur-Tenali railway line and its electrification have been given the green signal.The project has been entrusted to the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).The RVNL has floated tenders, which will be opened on November 9, 2012.The project is expected to be completed within two years of the finalisation of tenders, according to an official release by the Divisional Railway Manager N.K. Prasad.He stated that tenders were invited for civil (construction of platforms and provision of amenities at stations), overhead electrification, and signalling (signal & telecommunications) in the section.The announcement of doubling the 26-km railway line was made in the Railway Budget and the project was promptly taken up by the South Central Railway. |
