A Kerala-bound goods train from Chennai was halted around 5 am on Thursday, at the Mahendravadi railway station, near Arakkonam, after the engine developed a technical snag.Railway officials were immediately alerted and repair work soon started. Bokaro Express, Bangalore Express and Shadhabthi Express, which were heading towards Arakkonam from Chennai Central, were stopped at various points. Train resumed their journeys after two hours, when the technical issue was fixed.Similarly, trains at Jolarpet were delayed by an hour after a crack was identified on a track near Periyamottur, between Jolarpet and Kethandapatti. Railway officials were immediately alerted and a team reached the spot.Chennai-bound trains were stopped at various locations. Trains services were resumed after more than an hour.Mangalore Express, Nilagiri Express, Alappuzha Express and Bangalore Express were delayed due to this.Officials said that the crack had occurred due to the cold climatic conditions and such issues were normal during winter. |
