Many of you might not be using IRCTC eWallet though it’s been quite some time when IRCTC has launched this service. If you are not using and you are a frequent last minute traveler then chances are you must be using IRCTC’s tatkal service which by no means an easy affair to get especially on super-busy routes like New-Delhi Mumbai or New Delhi – Bengaluru.

Often it happens while booking a Tatkal ticket the whole process of entering your name, selecting your destination or entering your preferred seats might take seconds but once IRCTC redirects to merchant site for payment, it takes lots of time due to which your ticket does not get confirm.

To avoid all such mess, you must use IRCTC eWallet as it cuts down the redirection time to merchant’s website and provides you hassle free booking experience.

So what are the advantages that IRCTC eWallet provides?

  • Secure transaction
  • Payment approval redirection cycle is eliminated and your extra precious booking time is saved
  • You also save payment gateway charges on every booking
  • You can manage your eWallet account online
  • You can top-up your eWallet online by using credit / debit card
  • Your booking will not be dependent on availability of your bank on that given time during transaction process

IRCTC has also made some rules regarding eWallet –

  • You have to register yourself to create your own eWallet with a registration fee of Rs 50, which is non-refundable
  • You may eliminate transaction charge of your bank but IRCTC will charge Rs 5 per transaction, which obviously is half of the transaction amount of your bank
  • Once credited, you cannot refund your cash from eWallet to back to your bank account
  • eWallet can only be used for booking etickets
  • A minimum recharge of Rs 100 and a maximum of Rs 10,000 are allowed in your eWallet
  • To register yourself your PAN Card is required
