Indian Railways is contemplating blocking agents from its the website for the first two hourseverydaytoenablethecommonman access tatkal tickets easily.
    Minister of state for railways K H Muniyappa told BANGALOREMIRROR, “We have received many complaints from commuters that while ticketsareavailable,theyendupinthewaitlisted category after making payment. Hence, we decidedtoblocktheIRCTCwebsiteforauthorised agents for a couple of hours. The tatkal window opens at 8 am every day. Authorised agents will be blocked for two hours. This will ease the problem faced by commuters.”
    Butpassengerswhovisittherailwaystation willstillhavetocontendwithagentsandtouts. One senior officer said, “Passengers for tatkal and normal tickets have to stand in the same queue with agents and touts. Despite standing inthequeuefortwohours,genuinepassengers are unable to book their tickets in the tatkal quota. There is need for a special tatkal counter for such commuters.”
    At the same time, railway sources maintain that agents will never go out of business. “Not everyone is internet savvy. Such people require agents to book tickets,” a railway official said
